As I approached my retirement, I was surprised at how many people asked me what I was going to do. It never, truly never, crossed my mind that I would lack for things to do.
I’ve always heard that your memory goes or at least gets spotty as you grow older. If I am honest, playing the old card (my memory is not what it used to be) can come in handy. That is not the case for this week’s blog.
Recently I took myself to Williamsburg for two days and two nights. Yes, I went alone. No, I didn’t take anyone with me, and I didn’t meet any friends there. I knew I would be alone with others.
Election week in Virginia. This used to be a time when we tried to remember to vote, went to the polling place, watched the news for results, and then if our candidate didn’t do well, we could complain.
We are having what I consider to be very expensive work done at our home. Our septic system is being replaced.
We have lost yet another cherished member of our church family. I can’t say I was surprised because he had been very ill for a while.
