Time to Bloom

Linda Soller | Jul 19, 2021

In the Drop-In class we have been discussing the concept of blooming where you are planted. The idea is that you make the best of the situation you find yourself in at the moment. This is a pretty simple concept but not always a popular one. I’m sure you never moan or complain about your circumstances or your challenges! Okay, so we all do that. But maybe we need to rethink our situations. What makes any of us think life will be or even should be perfect? As long as people interact with other people, we will face challenges. People interject so many variables into every situation. What you can ignore or live with may drive another person nuts. Resulting in a conflict or challenge. Add to the natural differences of opinion the differences in experience and you can end up with situations where two people may not talk to or even attempt to understand one another. So, what do we do? It’s hard to quickly change how we see the world. We reflect years of experiences, successes, failures, and attitudes. In truth, we’re all set in our ways. But maybe we can just decide it’s time to bloom.

In March of 2020 did you ever dream your world would be so different for so long? I didn’t. But here we are, and we are getting through it. Maybe you had a hobby that saved you. Maybe you learned something new.  Maybe you fixed your house up or met your neighbors out on the street. All those things were you blooming where you were planted, and now it is time to bloom again. When you look out your window on the world you will see it is complex. In some ways it will look better and more valuable to you because you came close to losing it. In other ways it will look threatening and unfamiliar. Either way you should be seeing opportunities to contribute, to share, or to support others as we emerge. Those opportunities are chances to bloom. You may only be a little buttercup at first. That is okay, as long as you bloom. I know you know in your heart it’s time to bloom.

Be the difference in the world! :o)
