Can You Put It In A Chart?

Linda Soller | May 08, 2017

I’m sitting at my desk diligently reading up on all the regulations that impact my job, my department, and therefore our company. Paragraph after paragraph, I read lots of words intended to explain what we need to do, when we need to do it, and why. Some of the information is new and some is not new. I find myself asking, “Why don’t they just put it in a chart?” Honestly, it never ceases to amaze me how complicated we humans can make things. All I need is a chart saying for this – do this – done!  I feel like it could be that easy.

There are many people who view Christianity and faith the same way. They want someone to make it easy. If I go to church twice a year and every now and then say “thank you Lord”, is that enough? How many times must I read my Bible for it to count as enough? Can I go a day or two or three without praying? I understand where they are coming from, to some extent. Everyone is busy and its natural to want to organize the pockets of our lives. But there’s no single rule or single answer when it comes to faith. Faith is ongoing, growing, expanding. Faith is as much a process as it is a result. Just when you think you have the answers you are presented with a new question. Just when you think the door has been closed you see that open window. Faith can be comforting and challenging at the same time. It requires your effort and attention.

Easy answers abound in our world. Quick fixes are offered up all the time. If you don’t believe me just ask Google. But when it comes to faith you need to open yourself to the process. Can you put it in a chart? No, but you can feel it in your heart!

Make this a great week!    :o)  Linda
