First Baptist Church of Herndon Blogs
I confess when I selected the title for my blog, I honestly hoped my readers would burst into the Disney movie “Frozen” theme song, arms flung in the air, belting out the words at the top of their lungs. My granddaughters would do that. Oh good, you did! But I guess most of you did not.
Words are representations. We use them all the time. Sometimes words alone get results, but other times they fail. Words often require an action, a sincere feeling, or a real effort to have the desired impact. Sometimes they mean something different to different people, so clarification is needed.
I can’t for the life of me get used to seeing what appears to be people talking to themselves. They are actually on those little ear headphones. Sometimes the person is speaking so loudly. I imagine it’s a way to compensate for the distance from their mouth to their phone. Whatever it is, I am struggling to get used to it.
A landlord evicts the tenant. The tenant later explains, he should not have evicted me, so I decided to teach him a lesson. I set the house on fire. The landlord may or may not have been fair, but apparently his actions were legal. The tenant’s choice was clearly illegal, and a perfect example of a bad choice.
I’ve recently mentioned that our church is experiencing a high volume of illness, surgery, relocations etc. Individually and as a group we have been praying for strength, healing, and support. But, in the last two weeks we’ve experienced nothing short of a collective miracle. Six members were back to church following surgery and illness.
There is this four-way stop I deal with at least twice a day. Generally, it works well, and the accidents are few. Lately I’ve noticed when traffic is light the other drivers seem to feel they don’t need to come to a full stop. They pull up at a slower speed, but never really stop. My driver’s education teacher called it a “rolling stop”.
