Update on the VDOT Proposal
In the fall of 2020, the Virginia Department of Transportation sent the church an offer to purchase a permanent easement on a portion of our property. The first proposal was extensive and would require the removal of our church sign, the guardrail beside the playground and playground fencing. After a long conversation with the VDOT representative where we noted our objections and concerns VDOT revisited the project and made drastic changes. The current proposal only requires two small square parcels of our property and would not affect the church sign, guardrail or fencing. One parcel is located beside the playground where a power pole already exists. The second parcel is located on the other side of the playground along the parking lot entrance. The new proposal will have limited effect on our property, and we are satisfied with the changes VDOT made. There are a few minor updates to the project, and we are awaiting the final proposal before we give our consent.
