Hello Church,
Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. I know, it's hard to believe we are already gearing up for Easter. The worship team has already laid out a plan for Holy Week looking to build on what we did last year. For the weeks leading up to Holy Week, however, I am going to offer a Wednesday night class called Engaging the Text. During this time, we will explore one or more of the lectionary texts for that given week. In the class, we will do more than just go over background information and offer study tips for the scripture. We will pray the text, explore the relevance for our lives and see where the text is calling and leading us to live out our faith today. Next week instead of having an Ash Wednesday service we will Engage the Ash Wednesday Texts. I know, I know next Wednesday is Valentine's day, so bring your valentine with you. :)
We were sad to learn of the passing of Adele Wyatt last week. Adele and her husband Leland were faithful servants of our church for 36 years. They were pioneers of the faith and a stable pastoral presence in a time of great change in our town. I encourage you to take time and read Adele's obituary which you can find in the link below.
