How many times have you wished you could hear someone say, “Problem solved”? So often even our routine activities place demands on us that result in stress and anxiety.
I want to tell you a true story. One night a group of teens was walking between their place of worship and a fast food location. A passing driver and a member of the group get into a verbal altercation.
Every day we are bombarded with noise. Alarms wake us. Horns blasts us about our driving. Sirens alert us to get out of the way. Television commercials get louder and make us grab the remote. Music trumpets from passing cars with windows down.
I’d never heard the expression “my bucket list” until the 2007 film starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. I haven’t seen the movie, yet I understand the meaning. To be clear, my bucket list is the list of things I would like to do or experience before I “kick the bucket!”
There are all types of listening skills. Sally sat, reacting as though she was engaged in the class. Two or three times in the hour she would offer a contribution and the teacher would always call on her.
Like most people I have some well-established patterns in my day. My comfort zone. So, on Memorial Day, with nowhere to be, I admit I slept in a bit. This put me taking my morning walk later than usual. Almost immediately I noticed the differences.
