Ho Ho Hope!

Linda Soller | Dec 09, 2019

I have always felt there are two types of Christians during the holidays. One group stays inside their snow globes protected, they think, from the materialism and chaos. The other group is out in the chaos bringing the real reason for Christmas to as many as they can. One group is guarded, protective, and the other embraces the opportunities to share. The first candle of advent has been lit. The candle of hope, or as I see it the candle of Ho Ho Hope. Yes, I really did just connect Santa to our candle of hope.

Consider this kindly, generous, gentleman, who reaches out to children and asks them what do you want for Christmas? Each child hopes that Santa will deliver. Some children are selfish in a childlike way asking for toys. I know I did. While others are generous beyond their years, asking for things for others, and basic needs. Santa sits and listens, and smiles. He is happy with his Ho Ho Ho laugh. Each child leaves Santa with a sense of hope, even if they have some doubts.

By definition hope is a feeling that something good will happen or be true. As Christians we have hope and a promise from God. He will love and support us and one day we will be with Him. This hope gets us through some difficult times. I am not comparing Santa to God, but I am asking you to think. Isn’t there room in everyone’s life for more hope? Isn’t it good to be kind, generous, and offer people hope? Are you hovering in your snow globe fearing someone will shake it and disrupt your little world or are you out in the world spreading Ho Ho Hope?

Be humble, be grateful, and be love in our world this week! :o) Linda
