Spring Cleaning?

Linda Soller | Apr 01, 2019

Spring did finally arrive. With the official date noted on our calendars we hope, no we expect, a change in our weather. We think it will feel a bit warmer, fresher, with spring rains pouring over our gardens and sweetening the air. Thus, the concept of spring-cleaning calls us to clean our homes, our yards, and in some cases our bad habits. Wouldn’t this be a good time to start exercising, or how about going on a diet before swimsuit season? With the promise of spring comes our best intentions. Unfortunately for us, best intentions are not always easy to follow. If we don’t embrace and focus on our spring cleaning, we will find our enthusiasm melting away. To be perfectly honest, it’s much easier to wallow in our current habits than it is to adopt new ones. Our brains are naturally resistant to change. Our society is disruptive and distracting when we try to change. Often our friends and family sabotage our change because they are content with the status quo. One might ask, why bother? I might ask why not try?

They say it takes 60 days to really form a habit. Even then, you don’t have a guarantee. Spring cleaning requires several things to be successful. 1. You must want to clean. 2. You must stay focused on the desired result. 3. You must start. (That last one can be tricky!)

Is it time for you to spring clean your faith? Do you want to have a stronger relationship with God? What better time than the Easter season? Lent gave you the opportunity to see if you could give up something, and Easter gives you the opportunity to embrace the gifts of promise and hope. Spring is full of beginnings. Why wouldn’t this be the perfect time for you to start a new?

Turn off the TV, get off the couch, silence the cell phone and listen to what God is trying to tell you!

He is risen! :o) Linda
