Foundational aspects of our church

Over the past four months, members of First Baptist Church of Herndon have been taking some time to thoughtfully examine how we feel about foundational aspects of our church, with the goal of better defining ourselves as a church and as a people of God. Each second Sunday in November we have gathered in the Fellowship Hall, split into small groups and answered specific questions posed by our Interim Pastor, Dave Peppler. As Dave predicted, when we return to the large group and share our answers, we find there is a lot of commonality. Here is a look back at what we have learned through this process so far.

In November 2024 we looked at our IDENTITY. We found that FBC's Unique Identity is:

• Diverse in race, ethnicity, culture and age
• Welcoming to all people
• Community of Faith

In December we talked about our CORE BELIEFS. We agreed that our Core Beliefs are:

• Salvation through Jesus Christ alone
• The Holy Trinity
• Scripture as authoritative and God's inspired word
• The Great Commandment Matthew 22:37

January brought a new year and focus was on MOTIVATION. We found that FBC's Motivations are:

• God's Invitation
• Kindred Spirit of the People
• Presence of the Holy Spirit

In February we discussed CALLING. We felt that FBC's Calling was:

• To Share God's Love
• To Serve
• To Teach
