Perhaps you are one of those people who thinks what if…? I am. I think it’s the planner in me. You know, be prepared for everything.
It was a typical Wednesday. I was up early and out the door to do my grocery shopping. Car parked, I made my way to the entrance when I saw it, a disconcerting sign. Basically, it said forgive our dust we are going through a major renovation. Items may be moved multiple times, and we thank you for your patience and loyalty. That’s the short version.
In the Drop-In class we have been discussing the concept of blooming where you are planted. The idea is that you make the best of the situation you find yourself in at the moment. This is a pretty simple concept but not always a popular one.
I find myself wondering about self-esteem issues in our world. People with healthy self-esteem are comfortable with themselves and aware of their strengths and weaknesses. It’s not the same as being conceited. The latter is going to the extreme.
The young man could easily walk to his office, the metro, shopping, and dining. He felt safe, secure, and connected to his middle-class neighborhood. He was living the dream. Even his mom was happy with his choice of locations. On this morning he followed his routine pattern. Up early, a short journey on his treadmill, shower, dress and head out the door.
